An Actual Conversation

The following is an actual conversation Evan and I had yesterday. At 5:30 p.m., I like to watch Pardon the Interruption on ESPN. He likes to watch Wheel of Fortune at 7 p.m. In his mind, we have to put on our local CBS affiliate at 5:00 and watch it until Wheel and Jeopardy are over. We disagree on this point.

To set the stage, the time is 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

Me: Ev, put on PTI.

Evan: No.

Me: Evan, put on PTI, please.

Evan: No.

Me: Why not?

Evan: I'm watching WSEE.

Me: Wheel doesn't start until 7 p.m.

Evan (very emphatically): Dad, I'm watching Dr. Phil!

I swear, that's how it went.
