Conneaut Lake Park pWNED

Local amusement park Conneaut Lake Park will not open this year, after fundraising failed to reach its goals and a last-minute gift turned out to be a loan, which the park did not want to do.
I hate to say it, but the park has stunk for awhile and only a handful of rides were ever open. Granted, it was nice to stroll around once or twice a summer and check out the lake. The bar on the lake always seemed to be full of people whenever we were there. It will be tough for the businesses around the park that relied on the park visitors for a large part of their summer income.
My colleague Josh pointed out something very telling from the GoErie.com article:
The park's court-appointed custodian, H. LeRoy Stearns, made the announcement after walking into the park office at 11 a.m. and asking administrative assistant Leisa Leimeister to copy the park's financial reports onto a computer Zip disk.
As Josh said, no organization using zip disks should be allowed to be open. Personally, I keep all my financial data and most important documents on 5 1/2" floppy disks that only work on my Apple IIe. You know, for safe keeping n'at.

As to Conneaut, wasn't there a deal to sell some of the land earlier this year that they passed up but which could have saved that park? OH wait, looking at the time line on GoErie, it appears the residents blocked that along with the suggestion they close the park for the 2007 season.
WTF.
I can't remember anytime during my short existence that that fricken park hasn't been in financial trouble. What gives?
Posted by: RichardZ.com at May 23, 2007 9:16 PMPersonally, I am still using GeoWorks on my C64. The Lake hasn't been the same since they closed the Hell Hole. All this talk about Conneaut Lake reminds me I need to done to Hanks.
Posted by: iPeat at May 24, 2007 12:51 PMCan't believe no one noticed the 5 1/2" slip. It was 5.25"
And as far as Zip disks go, the current USB versions hold 750MB and the REV's hold 70GB.
