I'm on a plateau

Posted December 18, 2007

I'm not one for blog posts consisting of merely song lyrics, but as I'm writing this, this song just started playing and it's funny - you can listen to a song a million times and finally you hear the lyrics.

I'm thirty minutes from going on clear liquids and 12 hours from emptying out my soul in preparation for some tests on Thursday. To say I'm looking forward to things would be a massive understatement.

As soon as I recover from that ordeal, we'll have Christmas here and in Erie, and then on the 27th, I go for what I lovingly call "eating the radioactive eggs." Seriously - the technical term is a gastric emptying study, but the gist is that they give you radioactive eggs and take x-rays as you digest them to see how they're progressing through your system.

All this discomfort in order to hopefully find out why I've been having terrible pains for the last year. Let's hope we finally get some answers.

Finally, the song:

The Frames: Plateau

I'm on a plateau
It's not where I belong
It's taken so many years
To figure out my way
Upon this plateau
It's all been said and done
And every time I try
The words make little sense until you're gone

And everything must change
Everything must change
Upon this plateau
The diamond sky's enough to take you miles ahead
Where the past can't ever catch us
And all your good friends
Are gathering all around
They say the time is now
And so I must resolve to say
It's just me myself again
And I'm just talking to the wall this time
It's just me myself and I
Deciding on a plan

And everything must change
Everything must change inside you now
Everything must change inside and out
Everything must change, change...
I'm on a plateau
I'm on a plateau...
