Landscaping Woes

Posted April 23, 2008

If all it took to have beautiful landscaping was laying out plants in a pretty pattern in Photoshop, I'd be all set. I don't know thing one about how to make my yard look pretty, other then mowing the grass, and even then I struggle.

I'm tempted to just rip out everything and put down some FieldTurf.

How do I learn this stuff? I see pictures of things people are doing, like Julie and Brad, and I'd like to do the same but don't know where to start.

Any suggestions?

My experience has been the following: I love the springtime, when everything is beginning to grow and blossom, I love going to nurseries and eyeing the copious selections, I love new planting and creating gardens.

Then it gets hot and humid, the weeds take over the ground and I hate the heat and do not want to spend time and sweat, pulling weeds and cultivating the earth. I am not fond of using weed killing solutions, and the yard turns into chaos! The older I get the more I wish I had a yard covered with grass. I say, keep the landscaping simple and enjoy your time doing other things. (I am planting some vegetables this year in the back of the house, I like that idea)
