No World Series For Me

Posted October 22, 2007

So my split-screen adventure was a bust last night - the Indians lost and the Steelers, despite a late comeback, lost on a last second field goal.

FAILs all the way around.

The Indians lost hurt because they were up 3-1 and in control. Then, everyone stopped playing. Sabathia and Carmona were bad. The offense suddenly forgot how to hit. The defense was awful. The coaching a little suspect (come on, you have to send Lofton on the Gutierrez hit. If he scores and ties the game and Gut. gets to 2nd base, its a different ball game and Blake doesn't swing at the first pitch and ground into a double play).

The good news is that we've got a good nucleus that now has some postseason experience. There are positions that need to be shored up (left, right and 3rd base) but I feel good we'll be back next year.

After watching Joel Skinner botch that decision to not send Lofton and third base, my thought went directly to this: Skinner looks like just the man to hire as the Pirates manager! You watch, it'll happen.

Sorry about the Tribe. I remember that game we went to back in '98 against the Yankees. Great time. It's the last baseball playoff game I've been to.

Go Rockies
