Right Turn Beauty
Evan's been a giant music kick lately, and Jennifer and I have been placating him with CDs full of music that we burn for him we hope he'll like. Some are hits: They Might Be Giants, Decemberists, Hank Williams Sr. Others are not.
The other day, he and I waded through my crazy iTunes library and picked out stuff I thought he'd like. A few seconds of a song will get you a yes or no from him, so last night I threw the songs on my iPod and we set off to get haircuts.
We went the back way, through dark, woodsy country roads, all the while blasting Mr. Blue Sky. Everyone in the car is diggin' it.
Just as we're getting to the end of the song, we make a right turn, right into the sunset, and the sky was this amazing mix of orange and purple and gray. It was the kind of sunset that takes your breath away. The kind that makes you not want to get out of the car and go do what life requires, because once you're doing whatever menial task you'll have forgotten the next day, it'll be dark.
