WalkAmerica - We Did It
Wow. When I first signed up to do this year's WalkAmerica, I set a modest goal of $250 - figuring that was about what I raised when we did the walk in 2005, and since I was going solo this year it'd be a good amount.
In a couple of days, I met that initial goal, and I kept raising it until I set it at $1,000. It was a lofty goal and one I hoped I could reach. Slowly and surely, money kept arriving from a multitude of sources: friends, family, co-workers, complete strangers, even people in foreign countries. I'm amazed at people's generosity.
This morning, Jenny put me over the top and brought my total to $1,000.
I was reading in our local paper that our local March of Dimes hopes to raise $36,000 altogether this year. To think I (and you, by proxy) will be a nice chunk of that feels good.
So thank you to everyone - for giving as well as putting up with the constant updates. I'm grateful and I'm excited to be able to give back, especially as we were directly impacted by the March of Dimes' work and research.
Tomorrow, I'll be giving to ron the list of people who's qualified for a photo, and I'll start sending out mix CD's to those who have given $25. I've got a bunch of done, but will have to catch up from this weekend's donations.
I'll be posting throughout the day. I haven't figured out how yet, but I'll have my Blackberry with me so I'll figure something out.
